The following photographs were taken between July 8th and July 16th, during our weeklong stay on South Molle Island, one of the many islands that together make up the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland.

This was really the vacation part of our vacation, if that makes any sense, and not having to drive at all during this stretch was definitely welcome.

Whitsunday View+

South Molle is situated with the resort on the north side of the island, the rest being, you guessed it, a national park. Here's a fantastic view of a few the neighboring islands in the Whitsunday group.

Oyster Bay+

Here's Oyster Bay, located on the eastern side of South Molle Island. We walked down to the bay and looked in the tide pools for sealife.

Goat Island+

The Whitsundays are filled with a number of uninhabited islands like this one off the coast of South Molle. Sailboats are the best way to explore these islands, and you can get a camping permit to stay on them overnight.

Tide's Out+

The tides in the Whitsundays oscillate wildly... when the tide is out, it's way out. This picture was taken from our veranda at low tide.

Sunset, South Molle Style+

This was also taken from our veranda before our nightly routine: happy hour, dinner and the watching the evening entertainment show.

Bats!+

When walking around the island, we passed these bats resting and chatting with each other during the day. You can see Hundreds of them, if you look closely. Their wingspan was about a meter (3+ feet) across and each night during Happy Hour, we'd see them them rise up out of the bush for their nightly hunting.
